| History: The hotel was built as the Goldener Engel in 1821 by the
veteran soldier Josef Hajek (1771 - 1856) from the Josefov fortress. After the 1900
reconstruction there were 50 rooms, after 1945 it was named Manes, later Labe. A famous
painter and graphic artist, the leading personality of German graphic expressionism in the
mid war years, Norbert Hochsieder, was born there. The Spa Hotel Labe offers a view of the spa colonnade with its singing fountain.
